The Gordan offers Certificate, Diploma and short courses to students in the Geelong and Werribee regions. Hands on learning - learning through doing/ activities.
Disability Liaison Officers (DLOs) are employed at each TAFE and University in Victoria.
This person may also be known as an Access Officer, Equity Officer or Disability Advisor but DLO is the most common.
DLO’s may be able to provide the following services to assist students:
-Reasonable adjustment negotiations
-In-class note takers and education assistants
-Advice on physical access
-Disability counselling and advocacy support
-AUSLAN interpreters
-Specialised equipment and software
These services are provided free of charge and operate across all campuses.
TAFE Specialist Employment Partnerships (TSEP) is a free, on-campus employment service that supports graduating students with a disability who are seeking employment. A specialist consultant will be onsite at The Gordon one day per week, rotating between our main campuses.
University

- Academic Support Workers (i.e. note takers, interpreters, readers)
- Access to adaptive technology (i.e. voice activated software)
- Alternative arrangements for assessment (i.e. additional time, scribe, reader)
- Alternative format course materials (i.e. braille, disk)
- Enrolment and campus orientation
- Liaison with lecturers/teachers
- Physical access to facilities
- Referral to other support services (i.e. counselling, health, housing, financial aid, learning skills)
- Students can also receive Learning Support with academic study and learning in areas such as reading, essay preparation, exam preparation, research and more.

Registered Training Organisation (RTO)
A registered training organisation (RTO) is an organisation providing Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses to students, resulting in qualifications or statements of attainment that are recognised and accepted by industry and other educational institutions throughout Australia.
RTOs provide quality training and qualifications that are nationally recognised.

As a genU Training student you can expect high quality training and individual support services that deliver job-ready and nationally-recognised qualifications and vocational short courses.
A range of Foundation Skills and Pre-accredited courses are on offer.
Cultura
Courses are Pre-accredited programs for people who want to get back into learning or work and focus on developing access to accredited training or employment for people with a multi-cultural background.
genU Training
genU Training has over 70 years’ experience delivering services to the community.
We proudly offer training and education that empowers people to reach their full potential and use their new skills to create good in the world.
Our qualifications are nationally accredited and focused on high demand industries including, aged care, disability, mental health, community services and foundation skills. Designed in collaboration with industry, our accredited courses and qualifications create job-ready graduates.
Our range of short courses enable professional and personal growth with a focus on mental health, conflict management, community services and preparing people for industry skill shortage areas.
Work Education and Transition Education @ The Gordon
The Work & Transition Education programs are ideal if you are aged 15 or older and have special learning needs and/or learning difficulties.
These unique programs are designed to give the support and skills needed to gain employment or progress onto further study. It also offers students the opportunity to meet and interact with new people, build confidence, and further their language and communication skills.
